The Vegans Have Better Sex Song

If you've ever been to NY, you've probably run into someone who you would classify as weird or doing some outstanding act you would never encounter back in your hometown. That's part of what makes NYC so great because with so many people anything can happen.

When Leala and I were staying in the East Village last fall we had one such brief encounter. If you've ever been to the East Village, you'll probably run into some type of character, as that's where you go to find something different.

One morning we were strolling down either 6th or 7th street near Avenue A. We were staying on St Marks Place, which is really 8th street, also off Avenue A. This lady who looked to be in her 70's, with long gray hair wearing a jump suit and a bandanna, was singing a song. She wasn't singing it to herself, but to anyone who walked by. And she didn't stop. She just kept on walking by singing it to anyone who would hear. Because of this, we didn't hear all she was singing and maybe that was the whole song, but basically she was singing how Vegans are better at sex.

It was such a brief encounter, lasting probably no more than 10 – 15 seconds, but it was enough to make a lasting impression and leave her image in my mind about 9 months later. I probably let out a little smile or chuckle at the whole thing and we just walked along.

Probably the only thought I really had is if it was true and did this 70 year old lady experience enough sex with enough different partners with different diets, to know that Vegans are the ultimate at having great sex.

I tried googlin whether there is a real song about Vegans having better sex, but could not find such a song. But searching for a phrase like “are vegans better at sex', did bring up enough articles tauting how vegans and vegetarians have more energy in bed and can even have an aphrodisiac effect because of a healthier lifestyle. This gets me thinking about natural selection, where animals will try to mate with a partner who is stronger, healthier and more fertile, to have greater success at having healthy offspring as well.

I'll say that changing my diet, not necessarily to a vegetarian but to a healthier path the past few years, has brought on increased energy in any activity I partake in. I was about a year into being a vegetarian, but since the honeymoon I have since fallen off the wagon, but am slowly getting back on. The reasons for my vegetarianism and the new diet I've been leading is for another post.
